Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation & CoverGirl 3 in 1 Foundation Review

Alright guys, I must admit that I can't leave the house without foundation. Ugh, I'm working on it! I've tried so many brands' foundations. I have combination skin, more towards the oily side.

My "starter" foundation was Clinique's Perfectly Real Makeup. Way too dry for me, and it went on like paste. I've tried MUFE HD Invisible Cover Foundation: that was a straight-up no for me. I looked like a giant grease ball, and it slipped off even with primer! It was pretty disappointing because it was so expensive! I've used MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 for YEARS. I loved the coverage, and haven't broken out from it, but it felt so thick and never quite matched my ever-changing skin tone.

Shortly before my trip to Orlando in April, I finished my entire bottle (again) and had no time to run to my local MAC counter. So, I raced on over to CVS and perused the isles for a "temporary" foundation. Luckily, I struck gold on my first try: it was CoverGirl's Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation. It claims to have the "lasting power of primer, coverage of a concealer, and the blendability of a foundation in one. Shine free."

Well, that was mostly true! I was in the hot and humid state of Florida, and it stayed well. I did have to set it with powder, of course. It lasted for almost the entire day: maybe 8 hours or so - still impressive for $12! It wasn't exactly perfect for my skin as far as coverage since it was more towards medium-coverage. I just like full-coverage since I'm a bit self-conscious about my redness. It felt light on my skin, which was okay, but the consistency was something I didn't expect - it was pretty runny, and required a lot of blending. If you're used to MAC foundation, you can imagine my surprise. Overall, I would rate it a 6.5 out of 10, which is great for a drugstore foundation in my book!

But it wasn't until this year that I discovered Kat Von D's Lock-It Tattoo Foundation at Sephora on 34th. I'm not joking when I say that this product is the best foundation I could ever dream of. I met Kat Von D not too long ago, and God BLESS that gorgeous woman for her Sephora collection *bows down.*

It goes on like a dream, full-coverage, stays all day, and it has a matte finish which I love, love, love! I get shiny so this was perfect. The color matches me perfectly, which is a difficult task. It doesn't rub off on my clothes or anything (not like I'm a mess, I just figured it was worth noting). I find the packaging super cool as well - from the photos, you can see I've almost used the entire thing. And not surprisingly, this foundation was SOLD OUT! Kat had to release a video to reassure her fans of this miracle product that she didn't anticipate this big of a beauty cult following, and that it isn't going to be discontinued anytime soon! But, to be honest, it was always stocked at Sephora on 34th whenever I visited ... which I do ... a lot. Oh, how I I love being in New York. I rate this 10 out of 10!

I hope you all found this post informative and helpful when it comes to buying your next foundation! Let me know if you'd like any more information on them - feel free to tweet me @SabaBok.
