Intern Diaries - Pizza & Wigs

I stayed with my family in Jersey for the long weekend, celebrating with barbecues and babies. I took the first available train to my place this morning because, hello, back to reality.

My day started at about 4:30 AM and somehow, I'm still functioning. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.

Also, enough of that "farewell, summer, hello September" nonsense. Today felt like the hottest day of the year, at least in Manhattan. Almost immediately after I stepped outside, my hair frizzed and my makeup nearly melted off my face. Though I must say, the thick humidity in the air made me miss my days as a freshman at UCF.

Can the cool weather arrive already so I can wear my boots and scarves? I'm ready for fall. Born ready, even. My Pinterest boards are brimming with pumpkins, seasonal candles, and orange leaves. Autumn is my favorite time of year.

I'm also going to be 22 in a matter of months, which  freaks me out. According to my timeline, I should be some sort of prodigy now, but instead I'm shoving Inner Peas down my throat by the handful as I type this.

Inner Peas from Trader Joe's AKA my one true love.

Intern Life

I had a number of interesting projects to work on at my internship. My work tip is to really understand your work style, so no matter where you go, you are productive and energetic. I'm a little Type A, which comes as no surprise to those of you reading this that have met me IRL. I can't imagine life without to-do lists, spreadsheets, and endless amounts of office supplies.

After work, a fellow intern friend and I hit up 2 Bros because where else can broke students enjoy such a cheap (and quite filling) meal? Following our not-so-healthy dinner, we stopped by a wig shop because we decided we both needed an upgrade.

Welp. I can say with confidence that I will not be going blonde any time soon. I did take a liking to the "Beyoncé" and promptly sent my mom images of my very ridiculous makeover. Needless to say, she was terrified. Not that cute on me, I guess. Haha. See for yourself (blocked my face out to spare myself, and I guess you guys, too?)

School

My roommates are AWESOME, and I can say that with 100% faith. Trust me, I'm so relieved because I was a little anxious about how things would turn out all summer. They're normal human beings, and pretty chill about everything. It's a welcome change from past experiences ;).

I have class all day tomorrow (and when I say all day, I mean all day - bless you, FIT). Wednesdays are my "creative" days when I take my favorite classes, so I'm looking forward to it.

My utter disdain for life usually doesn't set in until Week 3 or 4 of classes anyway.

Bring it on.

  1. Oh how I miss NYC. It was super super hot the last time I was there (June). Definitely too hot for Central Park (for me anyway) but I did hit it up last October. :-)
